Hello cast and interested onlookers. On the next few pages I hope to show you Stephen Lee's vision for this production of
William Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' through costume.
On the following pages are the costumes per character. You should be able to go straight to your own character and also
have a sticky at the others too if you are interested. I've written directions to other pages on which your characters appear.
As you would know by now this production is being set in post WWI England. We're aiming for 1922 in the fashion stakes
but overall a look that says "1920s", at least for the young folk in the play. 1922 was picked because it looks
very 20s but it's not quite the "Flapper" period which is around 1926-1928. Most people tend to think of the Jazz
age or Flapper dresses as 1920s fashion but it's a bit further on than the post war era and the men returning from War is
key in this play.
This is a "Best Scenario Wish List" so the final outcome may be varied depending on resources, time and effort
but we'll strive for this look for the present.
If any of you have any of the garments depicted in the drawings please let me or Dianne Savina know. I have quite a lot
of these but at this stage am planning to make about 8 - 10 and I need to get started ASAP to have them ready and fitted
by dress rehearsal.
If you have any suggestions about the costumes or indeed the layout of this website (to make it easier to navigate) then
let me know (but be gentle :-D).
